Die Bildungsinstitution Abendgymnasium Ostwürttemberg, Standort Schwäbisch Gmünd bietet Weiterbildungskurse zum Nachholen der Schulabschlüsse Abitur, Mittlere Reife über den 2. Bildungsweg an. Damit kann man mit dem Kursprogramm der Bildungseinrichtung das Abitur nachmachen.
Die Abendschule in Ostwürttemberg wurde 2002 gegründet, zunächst mit Standorten in Aalen und Schwäbisch Gmünd, 2008 kam Heidenheim hinzu. Der Standort Heidenheim ist derzeit in der Warteschleife. Wir sind nicht nur dem Namen nach eine Bildungseinrichtung in der Region und für die Region, denn zum einen kommen unsere Schülerinnen und Schüler von nah und fern, aus den Städten ebenso wie aus kleineren Orten, und nicht nur aus dem Ostalbkreis oder dem Landkreis Heidenheim: auch die Nachbarkreise ringsum sind bei uns vertreten. Unsere Schule wird von einem Verein getragen, in dem sich die Städte Aalen, Ellwangen, Heidenheim und Schwäbisch Gmünd, die Landkreise Heidenheim und Ostalbkreis sowie der Regionalverband Ostwürttemberg zusammengeschlossen haben. Damit wurde das Bildungsangebot in der Region um eine wichtige Komponente erweitert, nämlich die Möglichkeit, berufsbegleitend allgemeine Bildungsabschlüsse nachzuholen. Seit Gründung der AGO haben hier weit über 500 Menschen erfolgreich ihre Hochschulreife erworben. Die Schule befindet sich an der Adresse Haussmannstr. 34 in 73525 Schwäbisch Gmünd, Baden-Württemberg.

Grundsätzlich können an Kollegs in Schwäbisch Gmünd während des ganzen Tages Abiturkurse belegt werden, an Abendschulen eher abends, da sie für Berufstätige gedacht sind. Das Abitur online bezeichnet Abi-Kurse, die unabhängig von Ort und Zeit angeboten werden und damit flexibler sind, allerdings aber auch mehr Eigendisziplin erfordern.
